Description

A temperate upright species from North America. Similar in form to var filiformis, but larger, stockier, and with green leaves with white tentacles. This is a winter dormant species that dies back to a tight fuzzy resting bud, known as a hibernacula, to protect itself from the cold. Hence in autumn & winter the plants have no active leaves. At this time keep cold and protected-a cold greenhouse is ideal, and just damp, increasing the water in the spring. Large pale pink flowers are produced in the summer, to an inch across.
